A personal project this time. This was something my sister said a long time ago and it always stayed with me because it was (and still is) such a joyous expression. I decided I wanted to create it in physical form, so here are some shots of the canvas in development.
The canvas is 70cm square and I'm using acrylics. The lettering was stenciled on then roughly blocked in using silver leaf, the idea being that the lettering changes throughout the day as the silver leaf reflects the changing light. And as you walk past it, there's a 'joyous' shimmer across its surface. I'll post the finished piece very soon.
I will be giving it to my sister as a present.
Teddy Bear Skeletons
I saw recently these small sculptural pieces online by Stephanie Metz and I find them fascinating. There's something about anthropamorphising a bear into a teddy and then exploring its anatomy in this very tactile way that blows my mind. Freakish and cute all rolled into one.
